Now is the time to get recognized for rising to the challenge. For doing it all. And for doing it well.
Applying for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Scholarship is your chance to gain local, state, and even national awards and a college scholarship for all that you’ve put into your high school career. If you’ve maintained at least a B average, participate in at least one school-sponsored sport, are a leader in your community and role model at your school, then you’ve got what it takes to be a Wendy’s High School Heisman.
1. Choose A Reviewer
You will need to ask a school official to review your application. This review must be completed in order for you to qualify for the program. The school official can be an unrelated teacher, counselor, or administrator at your high school. You’ll need to enter your reviewer’s full name and email address on the application, so it’s a good idea to check with him or her before you start.
2. Start the Application
Click ‘Apply Now’ to access the online application. Before you can begin your application you must complete an eligibility quiz. If you meet the academic and athletic eligibility requirements you will be able to register and begin your application to tell us how you learn, perform, and lead in your school and community.
It’s never been easier to apply. This year’s application has been separated into two phases to make it easy to complete and submit the application on time. Phase 1 of the application is where you will provide information about your academic performance, athletic achievements and community involvement. Phase 1 has an earlier deadline and is required to be reviewed by a school official. Phase 2 of the application has a later deadline and is not required to be reviewed. It consists of a few essay questions and allows you to provide supporting information about your achievements.
To register, create an account and establish a username and password. You’ll need your username and password through the Phase 2 deadline on October 24, 2016 to log back into your account, work on your application, and review your applications’ status.
You don’t have to complete the entire application at one time. You can save it and return later using your username and password. But do be sure to accurately and completely answer every question before submitting both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of your application. Remember that incorrect or incomplete applications can disqualify you from the program.
3. Make it Count
Phase 1 of your application must be completed and submitted by 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET on October 6, 2016. You will still have time to complete Phase 2 of your application after you submit Phase 1. When you are completely finished with Phase 1 of the application, be sure to hit the submit button. Your Phase 1 application status will change from ‘Incomplete’ to ‘Under Review’.
Before submitting Phase 1 of your application, be sure you have entered your reviewer’s email information correctly. After completing your application, follow up with your reviewer. He or she should receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 24 hours after you complete your application. Make sure your reviewer adds email@example.com to his/her address book or safe list to ensure that the email is accepted.
Your reviewer will need to review and approve Phase 1 of your application by 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET on October 6, 2016. Your application will be disqualified if the review isn’t completed by this time.
Complete and submit Phase 2 of your application by 3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET on October 24, 2016. Phase 2 of the application is not required to be reviewed and therefore will not be submitted to your reviewer. Once you submit Phase 2, the status will change from ‘Incomplete’ to ‘Complete’ and no further action is needed for Phase 2 of your application.
