Plans After High School:
“After high school I plan to go to college. My top choices were Colorado State in Boulder, CO., New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM., and Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. I would love to play soccer in college. I plan on studying in the field of Sports Medicine and I would like to get the opportunity to travel abroad. Traveling has always been a great joy to me and the fact that I can travel to new places while also getting an education is a phenomenal opportunity. I would like to go to a third world country such as Africa and assist a town in need of help. One opportunity I have found is Doctors Without Borders which I plan on participating in. In the future I hope to give back to my community by volunteering as a youth soccer coach or a track and field coach. I realize the value of playing a sport as a youth and I would like to share that opportunity with others.”

“Upon graduation I plan to play soccer for American University in Washington D.C. I look forward to being part of the Patriot League at American University who is not only respected for its soccer program but also for its academics. My plan is to double major in Biology and English in American University's successful Premedical Program. Upon receiving my degree I hope to benefit society by influencing the youth in America to pursue their dreams, no matter what obstacles get in their way. I want to promote the idea that running downhill is easy. However, if you attempt to run uphill with strength and determination, it is more appreciated once you reach the top. My goals will definitely give me a sense of pride to be able to fulfill my own dreams, but I will be fully rewarded to know my influence somehow helped other youth in America fulfill their dreams. Once I obtain my Ph.D. in medicine I would also like to volunteer for the Doctors Without Borders program and treat those that have little money or medicine to the best of my ability.”

Sometime after college, I want to join either the Peace Corps or Doctors Without Borders. My greatest aspiration is to make a difference in the lives of people in need. I am very interested in the state of 3rd world countries so eventually I want to work overseas somewhere.”

“My plans focus on athletics, academics, and service. I believe all three are vital for me to grow into a complete person. I plan to play baseball at the collegiate level. I realize that this will present a formidable challenge, especially since I plan to major in biochemistry. My goal is to attend medical school and become a pediatrician. I also desire to continue my mission work. I intend to expand the non-profit organization I helped found into one with an increased number of participants and, ultimately, to have a greater impact on the needy it was created to help. This would include a more systematic approach on how to address the needs of the disadvantaged, both here in the states and those in other countries. Long-term goals are direct outgrowths of my short-term ones. Once I graduate from medical school, I hope to work as a pediatrician. I intend to establish clinics here and in impoverished countries for those who are economically challenged. I also intend to expand more athletic opportunities to the youth. It is my belief that sports help form complete, healthy, positive people who are willing to give and help their fellow neighbors.”

“I am fascinated by the fact that our world is becoming more and more globalized as a result of technological advancements and I want to be a part of the new developments that can potentially make our world better. As such, my short term goal is to attend a university that will allow me the opportunity to learn more in this area. In college, my goal is to study within the area of computer science/ architecture while continuing to play tennis. Upon completing my bachelors degree, I plan to go immediately to graduate school and then pursue my doctorate degree in my chosen field within the college of engineering, computer science and architecture. Within the college years, I plan to balance my time between sports and academics efficiently, so that I can be as successful as possible. After obtaining all my degrees, I want to not only work within my chosen field, but also to give my knowledge back to my community by continuing to tutor youths and teach them about the benefits of playing a sport like tennis and how it is related to becoming successful in life.”

“My ultimate short term goal would be to continue my football career in college at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In college, I plan on majoring in Aerospace Engineering. During college I will remain active on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. Once I have completed my undergraduate degree, I plan on attending graduate school, and then I hope to work for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and help send man to Mars. I believe in giving back to my community and plan on being active in community service throughout my life. Throughout college, graduate school, and the rest of life, I plan on continuing to serve others, and hopefully I will help make this world a better place. Other lifelong activities I plan to continue include remaining physically active by continuing to run and pursuing other physical activities. I believe in the importance in remaining physically fit and understand the long-term benefits of a healthy lifestyle.”

“After high school, I plan on attending college. I'm not sure what I want to major in yet; I am leaning towards something along the lines of English/Creative Writing. I'm really looking forward to the new challenges and fascination that college classes will present. I also plan on playing basketball at the Division III level in college. I've narrowed down my college list and I've already talked to a few coaches about playing for their team. I'm excited to embark on a new experience, to push myself at another level, and to develop a close family with my future team. Though I'm aware that my sports career will end at the collegiate level, I plan to make the most of my final four years of school and sports. After college I hope to find a stable job. If the opportunity presents itself, I do think that it would be a lot of fun to coach at the high school level. I plan on continuing my writing in my free time; I dream of one day publishing a novel. I hope to travel the world, meet new people, start a family, and take everything that falls in between in full stride. I plan on thoroughly enjoying everything that life has to offer.”

Immediately after high school I plan on going to college. I am considering a number of schools including Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Georgetown. I plan on running Cross Country and Track competitively in college. I will continue to do different projects in my new community and hopefully set a good example of helping others. I want to get a degree in Business Management and will most likely want to go to Graduate School. I have a long term goal of using my profession to help others. I want to do some good in the world and hopefully make a difference in someone's life. I want to use my degree and good education to start charities and businesses dedicated to benefitting those in need. The most important people being the poor. Hopefully I will be able to go to poor areas of the country or world and be able to work one on one with people who are less fortunate. Like a majority of people my age, I want to be successful. However, I am not concerned with using any success I achieve selfishly for myself. I want to use any success I have in life to benefit the lives of others who are not as fortunate as I am.

“The two most prominent colleges in my consideration as of now are the University of Mississippi and the US Naval Academy, principally for their large focus on applied sciences and their vast opportunity available post-graduation. Besides the scholastic perspective on my decision, I am also interested in participating in inter-collegiate athletics such as soccer, whether it is the nationally competing Navy or the club team at Ole Miss. Though I plan on acquiring a primary major in Pre-Med, I intend to use various college credits to free up my schedule for a more extensive background including a possible double major with Physics and a minor in Biomedical Research. If obtained, I will seek admission into a graduate school for the furthering of my medical training, yet I am undecided as to the specifics of a career as a physician. After my internship and anywhere from four to eight years of schooling, I plan on working to establish my name as a respectable physician and possibly even open up a medical firm.”

“After I finish high school I plan on attending a Division I University where I can pursue my track passions as well as my academic interests. I plan to double major in Biology and Economics. Furthermore, I hope to participate in undergraduate research, which will challenge and stimulate my thoughts in areas that engage my interests. One area of particular interest to me is organ regeneration, procurement, and organ and tissue transplantation. An experience in undergraduate research will help me discern my long term career pathway. At the current time, my long-term interests include attending medical school and pursuing a career in academic medicine. This career will allow me to combine many of my interests which include an opportunity to practice medicine, conduct research, and teach others in the medical field. I hope that through this career I can help to individuals, to humanity, and to healthcare providers of the future.”
