Plans After High School:
"My short-term plans include competing as an NCAA student athlete, excelling in my course of study, and staying active in the community. I plan to continue to improve in running and work toward the goal of qualifying for the NCAA national championships. I also hope to have a positive impact on my team by developing lasting relationships with my teammates and becoming a key contributor to our success. I plan to either become a physical therapist or a bio-mechanical engineer in order to help people recover or design equipment to enable them to maintain an active lifestyle. I will also be making a mission trip to Nicaragua next summer to deliver the cleats I collect and serve those in need. My long-term plans are to take my athletic career as far as possible while establishing my business career. I also hope to start a family and remain strong in my faith. Last, but certainly not least, I want to continue serving others and eventually make a positive impact on the world."

Plans After High School:
"In the next year, I look forward to finishing high school as a three-sport athlete and valedictorian. With recruitment visits to Princeton, Stanford, the Military Academies and many other academic and athletic opportunities, I hope to continue competition as a collegiate wrestler. I have put myself in a position for success in academics and plan to major in civil engineering. Throughout the rest of my life, I look forward to a continued life of service to others with the mutual benefits. I plan to continue serving with the Salvation Army, Toys for Tots and others through college and life. Following college, I plan to continue my education not only formally with graduate school, but through my hobby of reading. Once I have prepared financially, I plan to get married and hope to have a family to share it with, having seen the value of happiness that comes from family and how it makes life truly rewarding."

Top Three Academic Honors:
Principal's 4.0 Award every semester
WYSE Individual Regional Champion in Chemistry
Math Team State Qualifier

Plans After High School:
“After high school, I plan to attend a four-year university. Presently, I have narrowed my academic options to two majors: medicine or business. I plan to compete in Cross Country and Track at the Division I level. I understand the risks of competing as a student-athlete, but I believe my experiences with time-management in high school have prepared me for a college setting. The organizational skills I gain from being a student-athlete will also contribute to my eventual management of working, raising a family, and volunteering within my community. Whichever path I choose, I primarily wish to have a positive influence on my community. I want to be assured that those surrounding me have benefited from my work. Wherever I encounter someone, I hope to greet them with an authentically helpful hand and caring touch, perhaps getting them to do the same for others. I accept no less than having a positive impact on this world of ours!”

Baseball

Top Three Academic Honors:
CIM (Certificate of Initial Mastery) completion
Academic All-American 1st team every trimester
National Honor Society member

Plans After High School:
“My short term plans include finding the correct college for my needs. I have had my sights set on a chemistry or biology major because I would have many options for graduate school with either of those majors. I will most likely work all summer before going to school so I can have some money for my education. I also plan on applying for as many scholarships as I can find. My long-term goals include getting a doctorate in the medical field, finding a nice town and starting a family, setting up my medical business (my current dream is orthodontia), attempting to coach football and maybe lead worship at a local church. I plan on using college to set myself up for my own future and the future my family will have. I plan on working very hard in college but also having a good time. I think college will teach me many skills that will be very important in the future. I will have to learn to adapt to a new situation with new pressures in college, and that is just the beginning of what it is like to be a contributing member to society on a daily basis.”

While I'm am unsure of what exactly my major will be, I believe that it will be something science related and expect to go on to do graduate studies after college. Growing up in a bilingual household and spending my summers in Sweden has made me very interested in the world around me. I would like to do some traveling, and have also given thought to studying in Sweden.”

“After high school, I plan to attend Texas A&M University, where I will major in Biological and Agricultural Engineering and minor in Business. I intend to be involved in activities such as sports, the honors program, church/service organizations, and possibly the Aggie Recruitment Committee. Once I graduate from Texas A&M, I plan to earn a promising corporate job and use my degree in biological and agricultural engineering to represent my company to its clients. Because I have always loved persuasive public speaking, I would like to educate them about our technology and how it would benefit them. My parents taught me that the only way to work is to do my best, and I will strive to practice this principle every day. I want to be known as someone with strong morals and work ethic. Overall, I intend to achieve a college education which will allow me to develop a career in which I can benefit others.”

Top Three Academic Honors:
Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award

USA Swimming Scholastic All-American

Plans After High School:
“When dealing with short term goals, I want to wake up everyday of my senior year of high school and take advantage of the opportunities that are available. Whether it be continuing to train and qualifying for Senior Nationals in the 400 Yard Individual Medley or participating in the Race tor the Cure in the spring in Washington, I want to make the most of my last days of high school. After graduating, I plan to go on to college where I want swim in addition to majoring in chemical engineering. Applying the degree I earn from college, I would like to work in research on diseases in a lab developing drugs and treatment, specifically for cancer, so that I can help those who suffered from cancer as my mother did with breast cancer. I plan to also remain being an active member of my church, being a Eucharistic Minister and participating in community activities such as coaching a summer swim team. I feel it is important to give back to the community with something you are enthusiastic about. I have learned so much from my family and I would like to continue to add to that wisdom as I create a family of my own someday.”

Top Three Academic Honors:
National Merit Scholarship Commended Student
2009 Tomorrow's Workforce Leadership Award
Distinguished Academic All City - Track & Field, Cross Country

Plans After High School:
“Music and running have been instrumental in shaping my life. Both have taught me the value of dedicated practice and commitment to a goal. Each will play a different role once I graduate in a few months. For the future, I will use the skills I have built over the years to share the arts with others through extracurricular activities at college. Competitive track will not end. It will move to a new level as I embark on a track career at a Division I program. The long-term path I have chosen for a career is medicine. My plan is to pursue a science or engineering undergraduate degree with the goal of attending medical school. My interest lies in the area of genetic research. Through research, I hope to help others by solving some of the world's medical problems. As I embark on college, I will also rely on the skills I learned through the process of becoming an Eagle Scout. The discipline and physical fitness associated with being part of a sports team at a Division I level, while working to achieve good grades, is in line with the Boy Scout Oath - To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

High Technology High School
Lincroft, NJ

Sports:
Cross Country
Track and Field

Top Three Academic Honors:
Rutgers University Book Award
Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation Award
Technology Student Association International Conference, 1st Place Technology Problem Solving
Plans After High School:
“My current plan for post-high-school life is simply to go to college. I will run, become an engineer, and just try to stay on top of my life. I will major in either Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a wacky combination of these. I'll definitely try to be a leader in my community at whichever college I attend. Perhaps, if the opportunity presents itself, I'll take a year's leave from the educational scene and live with Shaolin monks in the high mountains of China or go to an impoverished third world country as a Red Cross worker. In the long term, I hope to meet a team that I can catalyze with and start a business. In general, since I'm pretty ambitious and like to keep myself busy, I will jump on whichever opportunities arise and my life will change accordingly. However, I strongly believe that although my plan is far from concrete I will adapt in any environment and eventually find my way to success. As I like to say, ‘it's all part of the Master Plan’.”

Top Three Academic Honors:
Thelma DeYoung Memorial Award for Excellence (for academics, service, and leadership)
Regional Top Ten Award Winner, Creative Communications Essay Contest
High Honor Roll, all quarters of high school

Plans After High School:
“After graduating from high school, I plan to go to college. Because I love everything I do, I find it very difficult to narrow down my future into one college major and one career path. As an athlete, musician, student, and writer, it's hard to say where my true passion lies. However, I am planning to study medicine in college because I know that most of the world is in sore need of doctors. Being a doctor is a profession built on relationships and improving other people's lives. To aid in the process of healing and restoring is a more worthwhile use of my time and resources than any other career I can imagine. When I am old, I hope to look back on my life and see that I smiled no matter what my circumstances were. I know my life will have its share of mundane days, repetitive tasks, and failed plans. But life is made of moments. Whatever I become, whoever I am, I hope to always live in the moment, taking life only seriously enough to always laugh.”

Gatorade Arizona Player of the Year/2008 Cross Country and 2009 Track and Field

Plans After High School:
“My immediate plan after high school is to take time to travel with my family to Europe and in the US. I will begin to train for college cross country, but on foreign soil and in cool weather, and, for the first time in 4 years, no longer at 5 A.M. As a collegiate athlete, I look forward to training to a level where I will contribute to my team winning a major title. I will explore an education in perhaps sports psychology or exercise physiology, but am excited about considering several academic opportunities my first few years and really thinking about where I want my studies to take me. After college, I intend to continue my training so that I can compete in running at a professional level. I hope to combine my passion for the sport with my education to mentor younger female athletes. I will always be involved in the running world, but also look forward to returning to some of the things I have had to sacrifice for my running career, like soccer, perhaps as a coach or as a parent. Regardless, my short and long term plans include combining my love for my sport with an education that will allow me to pursue my passions and dreams.”
