Frequently Asked Questions

DEADLINE:  Applicant and Reviewer must both submit by 11:59 p.m., Central Time, October 1

Q:  My school doesn’t have a packet and/or can’t find a username anywhere.  How can students be nominated?

A: We have changed the process for participation.  Students no longer have to be nominated in order to be considered for the award. The application is open to any high school senior who meets the eligibility criteria.

Q:  Will certificates be mailed to the school as was done in the past?

A:  Although the application is open to any eligible student, Wendy’s High School Heisman will continue to send two certificates to high schools as was done in the past.  Sometime after the deadline of October 1, the highest scoring male and female student athletes will be determined, and two certificates will be sent to the school so that the two students can be recognized at senior award time, or whenever the school deems appropriate.

Q:  While creating my profile, I was told that the account already exists. I have never tried to log in before, how can that be?

A:  During registration you must select a unique User ID – something that no one else in the system has ever used before. If you get this message, it is likely that you have chosen a User ID that is already in use by another applicant.  You will have to try something different.  Be sure to write down what you have tried, prior to clicking submit.  It is easy to get in a hurry and then forget what you tried.  Write it down and save it until after the October deadline has passed.

Q:  How do I change my password or User ID?

A:  If you are the applicant, you have options for changing your password. Upon failure of an attempted login, select the button that is provided to have your password sent to your email account. If this option does not work for you, the alternative is to contact us at 1-800-205-6367 or email us at wendys@act.org to request assistance.

Your User ID is a unique identifier that was created when you first filled out the profile section. You may not change the User ID, but if you have forgotten it, you can contact us to obtain it.  You will be asked some questions to verify your identity, based on the information you originally provided when you set up your user profile.

Q:  I am locked out of my account.  What do I do now?

A:  If you have tried multiple times to login, and have received a number of messages that your User ID or password is not correct, as some point your account will be disabled automatically. Please contact us at 1-800-205-6367 or email us at wendys@act.org to request a password reset or account reset.

Note: When contacting us for assistance, whether by phone or by email, please provide:

  • The first and last name of the applicant
  • The name of the high school
  • The city and state where the high school is located

This information will enable us to locate your records quickly and serve you more efficiently.

Q:  Academics Section – Class rank.

A:  This is a required data element.  If your high school does not “rank”, please work with the guidance office to provide an estimate of class rank, as well as the class size.  Class rank as of the end of the junior year is sufficient.

Q:  Who at the school can perform the review?

A:  As stated earlier, the applicants no longer need to be nominated as was the case in years past.  Wendy’s High School Heisman, however, does want some assurance that the information provided is accurate.  The reviewer can be any adult within the school district who has access to the student records and can confirm the information provided.  For example, the reviewer can be a person in the guidance office, a teacher, or a member of the administration.  The reviewer cannot be a student, and the reviewer cannot be related to the applicant.

Q:  When will the reviewer know that it is time to review?

A:  When the student is completely finished with the application, they must click on Submit.  A confirmation message will appear.  Within 24 hours from the time the student clicks Submit, the reviewer should receive an email from Wendy’s High School Heisman with instructions for completing the online review.  Applicants should follow-up with the reviewer to be sure s/he receives the email and completes the review prior to October 1.4 hours from the time you School Heisman Program with instructions for completing the online review of your application.

Q:  How does the reviewer verify and submit?

A:  Reviewers will receive an email with instructions within 24 hours after the applicant has completed and submitted their application.  The email message will provide the reviewer with a special link to the student’s application.  The reviewer will confirm their identity, can view/print the student’s application, and must click “Recommend” in order to certify their review is complete.  Reviewers will know their job is done when they see the student’s application status change to “Recommended.”

Only applications that have been recommended will be considered for advancement in the Wendy’s High School Heisman competition.

Q: How long does the reviewer have to complete the review?

A: Applicants and reviewers should stay in touch throughout the process.  The reviewer cannot do their job until the student has completed and submitted their application.  Knowing that the reviewer must submit by the October 1 deadline, the student should stay on course to complete and submit their application by September 23rd.  Both the applicant AND the reviewer must submit by 11:59 p.m., Central Time, October 1. There is no grace period to submit after the deadline has passed. If the student does not submit their part until October 1, the reviewer will not have a chance to complete their portion of the application and the student will be considered imcomplete. Students are urged to submit their portion of the application at least two weeks prior to the deadline and are reminded of this at the bottom of each page of the application.
